What is FUT?
Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is a hair transplant procedure that is performed using local anesthesia. This hair transplant option is similar to FUE hair transplant method. However, the difference between the two methods are the way the hair follicles are taken and separated. In the strip procedure, a strip of skin will be removed from the patient’s donor area instead of selecting grafts one by one as with the FUE method. This hair transplant method is best suited for patients who want to wear their hair longer so the scarring from the strip is not visible.
BENEFITS OF FUT/Strip Hair Transplant:
Number of Grafts – a larger number of hair follicles can be transplanted in one single session.
5,000+ – follicular units can be transplanted in one appointment.
Follicular Survival – higher rate of follicular survival compared to FUE.
Time Commitment – recommended for patients who cannot commit to multiple surgery dates.
Longer Hairstyle – typically best for patients who want to wear their hair longer.
Cost – typically most cost-effective option.
