PRP Injections

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a treatment option that is used to accelerate healing in various areas of the body. Many have used this treatment when hair loss results from androgenetic alopecia, a common condition that causes hair follicles to shrink. In males, this s called male pattern baldness.

WHAT IS PRP?

To understand how PRP works, it is important to understand the role that platelets play in healing. Platelets are a component of blood, along with red and white blood cells. When a person sustains a cut or wound, the platelets are some of the body’s “first responders” that arrive to stop bleeding and promote healing. Research theorized that if they could extract concentrated platelets and inject them into damaged areas of the body they could accelerate healing.

PRP contains a range of growth factors and proteins that speed tissue repair. As some types of hair loss result from damage to hair follicles, researchers initially hypothesized that PRP could help regrow hair by reversing the process that occurs in androgenetic alopecia.

HOW LONG DOES PRP LAST?

PRP is not a cure for conditions that cause hair loss. For this reason, a person would need to receive multiple PRP treatments overtime to maintain hair growth results. If you are further along in your hair loss, you may want to consider transplant options: ARTAS Robotic, FUE Hair Transplant or FUT/Strip Hair Transplant.

THE PROCESS:

Step One – Blood is drawn from your arm.

Step Two – Blood is placed in a centrifuge.

Step Three – The centrifuge spins the blood, separating its components.

Step Four – Platelets are extracted by using a syringe.

Step Five – Platelets are injected into the scalp.

THE MAINTENANCE:

It’s recommended to get maintenance injections every 3-6 months once hair loss is under control.

Reclaimed Hope: Her Words

The words of a 34-year-old patient on the brink of lost hope.

I began experiencing hair loss in my early twenties. As I’ve aged, my hair loss has progressively gotten worse. It started to affect my day to day life. I became depressed and started to isolate myself. I would spend countless hours researching and trying to find products that promised to regrow hair, hoping that just something would work. I spent hundreds of dollars on doctor visits and lab work. In my early thirties, I even considered getting a wig.

The minute I had my first consultation with JMISKO hair restoration | md, I knew I was at the right place. Dr. Misko sat down with me and we explored all my options for hair loss. He suggesting starting with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments. He explained the process, answered my questions and restored my hope.

I purchased three PRP treatments and had them about eight weeks apart. The treatments were uncomfortable, but only temporarily. I was able to return to day to day activities immediately after. About a month after my first treatment, I noticed results. I had tons of tiny new hairs sprouting in my thin spots, my hairdresser also noticed. After about seven months after my first treatment, my thin spots were filled in. I couldn’t believe it, I finally found something that worked for me! I plan to continue PRP treatments for maintenance purposes.

I cannot think Dr. Misko (and his staff) enough for giving me my life back. They are all very compassionate, knowledgeable, and personable. They have helped me regain my self-confidence and I’m now living the life I want to live. I would highly recommend JMISKO — 5 stars all around!
